Drum Beat is an evidence based, early intervention program used to reduce social isolation. The following types of students would benefit from engaging in this program:
The program focuses on developing and improving students:
The program involves students working in groups with a drum each. Students practice playing the drums and working as a team to play music. The program allows opportunities for students to discuss any issues, concerns and problems they may have. It is also an opportunity for students to discuss solutions and ideas. "It brings people together, gladdens hearts and fosters inner contentment and social harmony" (Holyoake, 2010).
